Chairman's Message AI Equipment Manager, Dave Markey, Receives National Recognition
A. Ross Myers

In this issue, an article describes recognition by Engineering News-Record of Dave Markey, American Infrastructure vice-president and equipment fleet manager. Dave drafted, and the Association of Equipment Management Professionals adopted, a set of guidelines designed to provide an ethical framework which equipment manufacturers, dealers and owners must share in order to do business with each other. Dave's work reflects a culture of ethical behavior that has underpinned our company from the beginning. Without it, no personal or professional enterprise can flourish, but with it, the prospects for growth are limitless. The national recognition of Dave's work shines a light on our commitment to be a company where doing the right thing is the way we do business.
Engineering News-Record (ENR), a respected construction news weekly magazine, recently named its Top 25 Newsmakers for 2005. On that list is Dave Markey, American Infrastructure vice president and manager of our $120 million equipment fleet. Dave and twenty-four others were honored at a special ceremony on April 6, 2006, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
Dave Markey

ENR has recognized Dave for his efforts to bring construction equipment manufacturers, dealers and fleet owners to a mutual understanding of the ethical conduct required by all parties and the responsibility they all share to do business by a uniform code of fair play and honest dealing. Dave, immediate past president of the Association of Equipment Management Professionals, prepared a remarkable one-page document that he calls a 'preventive maintenance' checklist, which the Association members have unanimously agreed to support.

Dave Markey is to be commended for his effort and the recognition by the industry of its significance.
